5 out of 5 stars Awesome Bookbag!   September 13, 2009

Strong, plenty of space & lots of organizational options--(straps won't break two months before school ends THIS year)

5 out of 5 stars Solid Product   May 2, 2010

I most wanted something durable. I've used this for about eight weeks and so far the feeling I get is that this product is quality and rugged. I also like the way it can be used as a suitcase by neatly hiding the back shoulder straps and using the shoulder strap accessory. Finally you get a "two-fer" -- the backpack can become two back packs if you want a day-tripper. Not inexpensive, but better than purchasing something for half the price and having the threads break.

4 out of 5 stars A good bag and a good value   May 29, 2007

I purchased this bag for a two-week trip around Greece and found it to be great for my needs. It's relatively roomy, yet the main pack just meets carry-on requirements and the small day-pack easily fits under an airplane seat. It's pretty comfortable to wear, with nicely padded straps on the main pack and good straps on the detachable day-pack. The shoulder strap is convenient as well--the main bag can be carried as a shoulder bag or with the padded suitcase handle if desired. The day-pack can also be clipped onto the front of the bag, which can be good both for security and to distribute weight more evenly.

The bag was also pretty durable, although one of the metal clips on the shoulder strap came off when the strap got caught in an airport x-ray machine (not sure this is really the bag's fault though).

Overall I am quite satisfied, especially for the price. Just keep in mind this is a travel bag--it's great for carrying on your back from hotel to hotel while traveling, but it's not one you would want to be wearing 100% of the time on your trip. (A metal-frame hiking-oriented pack might be better for that purpose.)

4 out of 5 stars used this bag around the world   January 1, 2008

It worked well enough that I used it for a 10 and 1/2 month trip. Depending on the airline, the main bag is small enough that, when separated from the day pack, it can be used as a carry-on. However, again it depends on the airline and aircraft. (Some airlines only allow 1 carry-on bag, and some airlines have smaller size allowances for carry-on luggage.) I bought a small bag so I could carry it on, but I quickly found myself checking it anyway because of the liquid restrictions on carry-on luggage. Also, even though it is small it's cumbersome to have to keep it with you in the airport. It's just easier to give it to the airlines and let them deal with it.

If you intend on putting locks on the zippers note that you can do so but the zipper handles are made of fabric and not metal, so anyone with a pair of scissors could cut it and get in your bag. (However, I never had anything stolen.) Also, there is no way to lock the sunglasses holder on the day pack.

The bag is pretty comfortable IMHO. I fit a small laptop (VAIO TX series with 11.1 inch screen) in the day pack.

If you want a bag that will force you to pack lightly, get this bag. It held up fairly well--i.e. nothing broke. However, after over 20 flights and using this bag every day for the better part of a year, it's showing a good amount of wear and tear. Next time I travel I will get a bag that's just a tiny bit bigger, has metal zipper handles, has mesh pockets on the outside of the daypack. Lastly, I think it would be good to have a bag that has a pull-out waterproof cover; this one doesn't.

All in all, for the money it's a great bag.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good bag   June 19, 2007

This is pretty good travel bag. Very comfortable and has good space. I used to for some 4 day trips and it is handy when you are planning to use public transportation. You can take off the extra bag if not needed to reduce the size and not carrying this big odd thing on domestic trips.

The reason I gave this a 4 star is that the main compartment doesn't have any pockets at all.

Regardless I think it is a good bag and looks pretty decent when carrying around.
